There\u2019s no doubt that vintage Chanel<\/a> is having a major moment this year. First, there was the Met Gala<\/a>, where a whole host of stars opted for pieces from the French fashion house\u2019s archives in honor of the late Karl Lagerfeld. Now, Greta Gerwig\u2019s Barbie<\/em><\/a> movie has brought more treasures from the Chanel vaults onto the big screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, fashion is central to the summer blockbuster, which sees\u00a0Margot Robbie<\/a>\u00a0take on the role of the famous Mattel doll. And given the actor\u2019s long-time relationship with Chanel, it makes sense that the brand would have a starring role. \u201cIf Margot wears anything that we didn\u2019t make, it\u2019s pretty much [all]\u00a0Chanel<\/a>,\u201d costume designer Jacqueline Durran\u00a0previously told\u00a0Vogue<\/em><\/a>. \u201cThey\u2019re very interested in supporting cinema and in helping us find looks that will work in the story. They sent us anything and everything that we wanted. They were just great to work with.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the movie, Robbie\u2019s character is seen wearing the pink Chanel skirt suit that Claudia Schiffer wore down the spring 1995 runway<\/a>. \u201cOne of the archival suits I wore had a little label saying \u2018Claudia\u2019 on it\u2026 I was like \u2018Wow\u2019,\u201d the actor revealed<\/a> in an interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s not the only archival look from Chanel\u2019s spring 1995 runway that features in the movie. Robbie\u2019s Barbie also wears a lavender tweed skirt suit\u2014worn by Schiffer in a campaign\u2014from the collection, along with a statement diamond and gemstone necklace featuring pearl pear drops and interlocking Cs. There\u2019s also a hot-pink version of the heart-shaped bag that featured in the show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Robbie wears a mixture of true vintage and recreations of archival pieces in the film. Anything good but not \u201cthe right size or color, they remade for us,\u201d Durran previously explained. Other Easter eggs for vintage lovers? The pink vanity case from 1995 displayed in Barbie\u2019s closet, along with a blue camellia-print bag from spring 1997 and a pink tweed skirt suit from autumn\/winter 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clearly enamored with all the archival Chanel she sported for the film, Robbie opted to wear a pink tweed blazer<\/a> by the fashion house \u2013 worn by Schiffer down the spring 1996 runway \u2013 on arriving in Sydney during the press tour.
